I have been running Juicy 7 on my Touch Pro for the past month. I like it because Rhodium looks cool, and I love the Calendar and Stock tabs. Juicy also does a great job by having the most up to date applications, but unfortunately this is at the cost of stability.

After flashing to Juicy 7 (With Windows Mobile 6.5 + Rhodium) the phone works great for the first week, but it always seems to get bogged down, and become super slow, even after a soft-reset. So I am officially fed up with 6.5 for the time being, and am going back to Windows Mobile 6.1 – and what better than today! Because MightMike just release a June 1st version of MightyROM4! I’m in love with it right now! It’s fast and everything is very functional, but as we all know… we’ll all probably end up changing ROM’s again in a few weeks, if not a few days.

You can get MightyROM4 Here:

MightyROM4 for Touch Pro (Direct Download) aka HTC Herman

MightyROM4 for Touch Diamond (Direct Download) aka HTC Victor

Fluffy Rant:

Just when you thought that texting on your HTC Diamond couldn’t get worse, you flashed to one of the newest, bleeding-edge ROM’s and lo and behold – Rhodium was staring you in the face. The first time I installed Rhodium, the only thing I noticed was a somewhat enhanced visual experience. Unfortunately, with Rhodium, function follows form and I’m definitely not a big fan of the slow and clunky interface.

3 Fluffy Reasons:

1. Too Slow!

I prefer bare bones and quick, to bulky graphics (as nice as they may look) and slow.

2. Too fat!

When I’m trying to text message, I click inside of the ‘send’ field and between the fat Rhodium graphics and my onscreen keyboard, I can’t see any part of the conversation that I was having. Sometimes I forget what I was going to say and I have to minimize my keyboard just to look at the conversation. Then the Rhodium ‘send’ box shrinks and to get back in to it, I have to click and navigate to the end of the box. Talk about cumbersome.

3. Unnecessary Graphics

Do I really need to see a mini icon of the picture of the person I’m texting with? A name alone is usually enough for me. Sure, it may look nice, but I’d rather not wait 5 minutes for the conversation to load just so I can see my contact’s cute little mug.

Fluffy Advice:

If you’re anything like us here at Fluffy, you’re spending a lot of time reading ppcgeeks, xda-developers and many other Windows Mobile forums waiting for new ROM’s and cabs to Fluff out your phone. Save yourself time and don’t flash your phone to a ROM if the cook brags that it has Rhodium on it. It’s a waste of time and you will want to flash back to whatever it was that you had before. I promise.

Do you agree? Disagree? Hate me for this post? Comment!

If you haven’t seen the new Windows Mobile 6.5 yet, take a look at the screenshot and video below.

Now considering that this is a pre-release and (hopefully) not the real version, the home screen is definitely not Fluffy! See that big fat bar highlighting the time in the screenshot below? You have to push that thing up and down to navigate. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong. The lag is ridiculous, very inacurate and most importantly, it takes like 4 flicks of the thumb to move all the way to the top or the bottom!

Take a look at the video below for more info on the laggy home screen and how it takes 3 or more flicks to push the screen up or down.

Edit: Turns out you can flick all the way up to the top, bottom by moving your finger faster and not focusing it on the big bar. This works, but it’s still buggy and hard to land on the right tile.
