After searching the internets for hours only to find very few incomplete tutorials, I decided I would try my best to let you all know how I successfully changed my Start Menu Icon on my Diamond. This will for sure work on your Diamond, but you will need to get your phone specific .dll file to do this on a different phone.
By following this tutorial you will be able to change your icon from the default “Microsoft flags” or “Microsoft Vista Orb” to whatever you desire.
1. Download this folder. It includes some files necessary to changing icons on your device.
2. Download and install this cab on your device.
3. Soft Reset your device.
5. Now download PE Explorer.
6. Extract the folder (from #1) and drag “shellres.192.dll.0409.mui” onto “UnSigner.”
7. Install PE Explorer (you can do the trial) and open the Unsigned “shellres.192.dll.0409.mui”
8. Now click on the 4 colored “Resource Editor/Viewer” to view all of the files in the shellres. Expand “Icon Entry” and select icon “292″
9. Double click on 292 and press “CTRL+O” to change the icon file. Select the desired 41×41 pixel Icon file.
10. (If you don’t have an icon file and want to create your own, use GIMP. It’s free!)
11. Save the shellres file using PE Explorer.
12. Open ssigner and “re-sign” the shellres file.
13. Copy the .mui file to your Internal storage on your Diamond Cell Phone.
14. Install Total Commander [tcmdpocketarm - in the folder download above] on your Mobile phone.
15. In Total Commander, navigate to the Windows Directory. (may take a couple minutes to load)
16. Find the “shellres.192.dll.0409.mui” file, and rename the file (hold circle button, select rename) to “shellres.192.dll.0409.mui.bak”
17. Now navigate to Internal Storage and select the modified shellres. Hold Center button and select “Copy/Move” and move the file to “\windows\*.*”
18. Soft reset your device. (Remove cover, and press reset button. This will not remove any files on your device.)
